Parkour,
  • The discipline of daily training, physical and mental, heightens the body's natural movements such as strength, speed, balance, coordination, percision, power and endurance. It builds clarity, confidence, self-disipline and helps you to be able to deal with your fears.

It's also called Free-Running. This is a sport mostly preformed outside. It is described as urban acrobatics, used in cities; it is used in any enviorment, either natural or man-made. Parkour is the art of movement that helps you overcome obstacles in your surroundings in a quick, efficent way. It involves running, jumping, vaulting and climbing. Parkour doesn't nees special equipment. You only need a good pair of shoes with a lot of gripping, and a place to train. It helps you develop and utilize strength, balance, agility, awareness, control and calmness.


Parkour are movements that not only get you physically fit but also mentally fit. Practicing Parkour will make you more aware of your surroundings and your abilities. It teaches you how to move in new and familiar places, and makes your body comfortable with all of it's surroundings.


A male that practices Parkour is called a Traceur, and a Traceuse for a female. There are alot of movements in Parkour; there are over 37. Some movements include the Pop Vault, Wall Hop, Wall-pass, Wall-run, Arm Jump, Cat leap, Cat Grab, Wall Jump, Tic-Tac or Tac Vault, and the Lazy-vault.

Parkour takes time to learn, don't just go out and jump off roofs and expect to not get hurt. If you have injuries take time to heal them, if not they can get worse. First you need to get into shape by weightlifting, running, sit-ups, pull-ups and various other exercises that your doctor should approve of. Don't take it too far, it can be dangerous. Then when you think your ready to start trainging you need to start off by learning to land. You can watch videos on how to do that, there are also books you can read. There is alot of different pictures, videos, and describtions of different Parkour movements online. There are even schools all around the counrty that you can go to.

In conclusion, Parkour is not just jumping off buildings, it's not wanting to look cool, it's not stunts or being reckless, it's improving yourself, not wanting to be were others have gotten. Parkour is what you make of it; it's a way of life.
